When do copyrights expire?

When do copyrights expire? Will you have to worry about someone stealing your stuff?

For anything created by an individual on or after January 1st, 1978, and owned by the individual (not a corporation), a copyright expires 70 years after their death. (This applies to the most common copyright issues.) After this point the work is no longer considered protected. This means if you published something on January 1st, 1978 at the age of 20, and lived to be 80, your copyright would expire in 2108.
